Pakistan registered their first win of the 2022 World T20 when they defeated the Netherlands by six wickets at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday. Chasing a target of 92 runs, Pakistan reached 95 for four in 13.5 overs with Mohammad Rizwan scoring 39 off 49 balls. During the match, pacer Haris Rauf made Pakistan’s intentions clear with a nasty bouncer that injured Bas de Lee.
On the fifth delivery of a six during the first innings, Haris bowled a short delivery, his bounce surprised the batsman and it hit the helmet. Opposing players and physiologists immediately rushed to check on him, and he also had an injury on his face. De Lide was forced into the dugout and the Netherlands had to announce Logan van Beek as a substitute with a concussion.

After the match, the duo expressed their warm wishes to each other. “I was ready to go back there,” the Dutch cricketer told Rauf.
“I wish you a speedy recovery. Come back strong and hit those long sixes again,” replied Rauf.

Despite winning back-to-back defeats, Pakistan’s path to the knockouts got tougher with South Africa’s win over India in Perth on Sunday. South Africa currently top Group 2 with five points from three games, followed by India (four points from three matches). Bangladesh are third (four points from three matches), followed by Zimbabwe at fourth (three points from three games). Meanwhile, Pakistan is in fifth place (two points from three games), while the Netherlands are at the bottom of the table with zero points from three matches.
