It was a dull day in the T20 World Cup on Thursday as both matches on Friday were bowled out. Afghanistan vs. Ireland and England vs. Australia were both scheduled to be played in Melbourne; however, the rain played a child as not even a toss took place in one of the two. As a result, the teams had to share the points that opened Group 1.
Ireland, who had earlier won against England, moved up to third place in the group after the game against Afghanistan. Mohammed Nabi’s team, however, held on for the second time in a game that was abandoned; After losing their first game against England, Afghanistan are at the bottom of the table.

England, meanwhile, reaped the rewards of their win over Afghanistan in their opening game of the tournament as they finished second in the group with three points to their name from as many matches. And in Group 2, India have won both their games against Pakistan and Netherlands to stay at the top of the table with four points. Pakistan, on the other hand, suffered a major setback after their one-run defeat against Zimbabwe on Thursday, sending them down to fifth place in the table.
South Africa, meanwhile, are in second place with third points after beating Bangladesh on Thursday. The Proteas also dropped their opening game against Zimbabwe after coming close to a big win with the men in red.
India take on South Africa in a crucial Group 2 clash on Sunday evening.
